Songs that we sing

I am lucky to have two daughters that like my singing voice, it is often my favorite thing to do with them during the day and some of the best memories I will carry with me. Here are some of my favorites we sing (Maddie doesn't sing just listens and usually falls asleep). What are some of your lullabies?

Edelweiss Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white
Clean and bright
You look happy to meet me

Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever

Note: Isabella use to call Edelweiss "holy mice"

Hush-a-bye, don't you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby.
When you wake, you'll have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.

Black and bay, dapple and grey,
Coach and six little horses,
Hush-a-bye, don't you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby.
Hush-a-bye, don't you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby,
When you wake, you'll have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.

Way down yonder, down in the meadow,
There's a poor wee little lamby.
The bees and the butterflies pickin' at its eyes,
The poor wee thing cried for her mammy.

Hush-a-bye, don't you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby.
When you wake, you'll have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.

When did she grow so tall?

"Is this the little girl I carried? When did she grow to be so tall? I don't remember growing older when did they? "

What we did this week.

Maddie played.

Held hands with my husband.

Purchased some more fabric to finish the curtains in the girls room.

Finally bought a stamp pad so the girls could stamp with these cool stamps I got at the Dollar Store.

Took a picture of myself.

Got the girls lolipops!

The girls played where Daddy cut down the tree.

Maddie's boots are to big.

Read some stories.

Planted some basil.

And watched big brother make big bubble!

granola bars

Isabella and I (my baking buddy) made some really yummy granola bars the other day, and thought I'd share. We substituted the cransins for raisins.

Hope you enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries
DIRECTION
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the oats, sweetened condensed milk, butter, coconut, almonds, chocolate chips and cranberries with your hands until well blended. Press flat into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, depending on how crunchy you want them. Lightly browned just around the edges will give you moist, chewy bars. Let cool for 5 minutes, cut into squares then let cool completely before serving.

What we've been up to.

Isabella loves Malichia, I don't think there is a day that goes by she doesn't talk about him.

Rain rain go away come again another day.......

Off to search for a pot of gold.

I think some one has baby fever, or misses Malichia.

Peek a book, I see you!

Ahhhhhhh......sweetness.

it came from the mouth of babes.

Today I was sent a "note" on Facebook. You are suppose to ask your child these question and then type what they say. So I asked Isabella some of the questions and then I asked her the question "What does mommy like to do the most?" her response was devastating. "Clean!" she shouted. "What?" So I stopped what I was doing and played with her and Maddie. How did this happen? I forgot to just stop and play. It devastated me. It seems to me like every day I'm just getting by. I have to make sure I'm on top of the laundry or Bobby wakes up and has no white undershirts, or Parker has no clean underwear, or there is no clean towels. I have to prevent these things from happening. The house gets trashed with in the first two hours after cleaning. I'm always in the kitchen preparing lunches early in the morning, and breakfasts and then snacks then dishes then lunch then snack then dinners thankfully we have gotten Parker to do the dinner dishes. So it's no wonder she thinks that is my favorite thing to do. I think the hardest part about staying home is the dealing with the mess, it just bugs me, but once I stop and focuss my attention on the kids I forget about it, it just takes that moment to stop and think about what is more important.
